ENGA® is a start-up based in Biel, Switzerland. The company develops solutions for a better use of the natural resources at our disposal. For this purpose, we implement circular processes in which the raw materials of our products can be returned to the cycle. The further development and application of a local closed ecosystem is the foundation of ENGA®.

ABOUT
ABOUT
OUR IMPACT
In 2019, around 300 million tons of plastic waste were generated worldwide. In Switzerland, this corresponds to an annual amount of one million tons, which is about 125 kg per person. Of this, about 8% is recycled.
In order to address this problem, ENGA® uses waste as a primary resource for its products and implements a decentralized recycling system. With our process, a new material made from 100% recycled plastic is realised, which is used in long life, high quality and repairable products. This way, ENGA® achieves huge energy savings and reduces the environmental footprint of its products compared to the use of primary plastics.
To go a step further in the optimization of the environmental impact of ENGA®, we develop solutions and products according to the circular and regenerative economy method. We not only use recycled materials for our products, but additionally develop and design them to last longer, are 100% reparable and dismountable. Furthermore, we focus on simple and functional products that are designed to consume as few resources as possible. Wherever possible, we use sustainable and natural materials.

ENGA is a start-up based in Biel. The company develops solutions for a better use of the natural and human resources at our disposal. FOR THIS PURPOSE, ENGA IMPLEMENTS CIRCULAR PROCESSES IN WHICH THE RAW MATERIALS CAN BE RETURNED TO THE CYCLE AFTER THEIR LIFE CYCLE WITHOUT LOSS OF QUALITY. BENEFITS OF LOCAL RECYCLING
In a collaboration with the institute for ecopreneurship of the FHNW, a bachelor thesis on the potential of local recycling in comparison to a centralized recycling, was carried out. The Study showed that the local recycling process of ENGA® has the potential to save up to 52-times the energy for transportation compared to the centralized recycling and so results in an overall 7-times lower environmental impact. This energy savings are the direct result from the local process cutting the transportation need. Furthermore is the local recycling dealing with way smaller amounts of materials, so that it can be processed without almost any automation. With that huge amounts of energy can be saved but also new ways to work with plastics are achieved, with more handcraft work what leads to non- single use, higher value products.
